Security forces gun down Hizb poster boy Burhan, 2 others | Separatists call for shutdown, authorities to impose restrictions in parts of Kashmir today | | Early Times Report
Srinagar/Jammu, July 8: The Hizbul-Mujahideen self styled commander-Burhan Wani-- who had threatened to bombard the separate townships for Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley, was killed in an encounter with the security forces in south Kashmir on Friday.
Officials said that acting on specific input, special operations groups (SOGs) of police from Srinagar and Anantnag and Army's 9 RR cordoned off Bumdoora village of Kokernag.
Sources said minutes after the forces approached the HM hideout, Burhan's one accomplice fired a few shots and hurled a grenade. He was instantly killed by the forces in retaliatory action.

Jammu, July 8: The Union Home Ministry has asked the state government to once again review the cases of stone-pelters who were given amensty by the state government two days back.
The Home Ministry has said each case should be reviewed strictly before going ahead with it.
