GoI picks holes in implementation of PMGSY in JK

Akshay Azad Early Times Report Jammu, July 17: The Union government has reportedly picked holes in the poor implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) by the state government as the progress of implementation is reportedly slow as compared to other states. According to the recent letter forwarded by Union Ministry to state government, it has been maintained that in Jammu and Kashmir 721 habitations were still lacking road connectivity. It is further mentioned that out of total 1983 works sanctioned with 10149.27 kilometers, only 1280 works of 5178.19 kilometers have been completed so far. "It is observed that there are still 268 works pending which were sanctioned during 2001-02 to 2007-08", sources said, adding that the state was asked to micro manage the road works, which are long lingering and complete them during ongoing financial year. "The average length of PMGSY roads to be constructed in 2016-17 in state would be 2.88 kilometers against 1.33 kilometers, which was very poor in comparison to other northern states and Union government has emphasized up...

Highly placed sources said apart from the Inspector General of Police, Kashmir range, two Deputy Inspector Generals and some Senior Superintendents of Police heading various districts of Kashmir are to be transferred in the coming days.
