Kashmiri Pandits left 70053 kanals of land in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 20: Displaced Kashmiri Pandits (KPs), who migrated from Kashmir after the armed insurgency broke out in 1990, had left behind 70053 kanalas of land.
The data reveals that the Pandits had left behind the 6695 kanals and 12 Marlas in Srinagar district, followed by 3196 in Budgam, 17991 in Anantnag, 7900 in Kulgam, 1206 in Bandipora, 14790 in Kupwara, 2154 in Ganderbal, 10634 in Baramulla, 5407 in Shopian, 8023 in Pulwama, district.
The data also revealed that Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) who migrated from Kashmir in 1990 had also left behind 23,278 structures including houses, shops and other buildings.
Of these, 4083 structures were left behind by KPs in Srinagar district, followed by 2669 houses in Anantnag, 2099 houses in Budgam district, 1096 houses in Pulwama district, 908 in Baramulla district and 784 in Kupawara district.
As per the official data there are 62,000 Kashmiri Pandit families who had to settle down outside the Valley after militancy started in the Kashmir Valley in early 1990's.
