Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 3: The central government has told the state government that it should not consider any move to disband Village Defence committees (VDCs). It has told the state government especially the PDP that it should not succumb to pressure being mounted from some quarters in the valley to put it on communal lines. "There has been consistent move by a section in the valley against the VDC as they have been instrumental in defeating the 'Greater Kashmir' concept of the separatists aided by terrorists. Now after having failed in their desires they are taking cue from unrelated incidents to mount pressure by branding them as against one particular community. We understand their games and will not allow them to succeed. The state government has been asked to be more stern in dealing with such pressure,' said a senior government official, who is privy to the communications.
