JAMMU, Dec 28: A top bureaucrat who is at presently posted at a senior position in Jammu is alleged to have bought benami property worth over Rs 1 cr at Samba in the name of his close relative.
The deal was finalised in a secret manner by the officer's close relative, according to police sources.
Since the land was disputed and there was the possibility of a clash between the two parties, the bureaucrat used his influence to clinch the deal at a 'cheaper' rate, sources alleged, saying over Rs 1 cr were paid against the cost of the land which "has been fenced by the officer's relative".
