2 cops killed, 2000 jawans wounded; 100 security installations targeted | Kashmir unrest: No hearts bleed for security personnel! | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, July 18: Even as Kashmir continues to be under strict curfew for the tenth consecutive day with the death of over 40 civilians and injuries to another 2500 people, the plight of security forces struggling to restore law and order by risking their lives goes unnoticed.
In fact, the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are bearing the brunt of the violence, triggered by separatists, militants and their handlers in Pakistan.
While two police personnel have been killed in protests so far, around 800 of them are wounded, including 200 with grievous injuries. Similar is the plight of CRPF personnel whose patrol parties and bunkers are being frequently targeted with stones, petrol bombs and even firearms. SRINAGAR, July 18: Two persons including a woman were killed when police and security forces opened fire on a group of protesters in Qazigund area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district in the evening today.
Around one dozen persons sustained injuries during the clashes in different parts of valley. With today's killings the number of dead in continued violence has reached 46.
