11/15/2015 12:07:00 AM
Early Times Report jammu, Nov 14: When Mehbooba Mufti replaces her father, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir no one can accuse Mufti of having preferred his daughter to other senior party leaders for the top post. It is part of the political tradition in Jammu and Kashmir. In 1981 Sheikh Abdullah installed his son, Dr Farooq Abdullah, as President of the National Conference when the post should have gone to Sheikh Abdullah's son-in-law, GM Shah. This way the stage was set for Farooq Abdullah to succeed his father as Chief Minister. And when in 1982 Sheikh Abdullah passed away he had not made any choice for the post of the Chief Minister.
