Jammu, Dec 26: In yet another setback owing to lackadaisical attitude of authorities of University of Jammu, Rs 75 crore allocated for off campuses got lapsed, despite two extensions granted by UGC.
However, disillusioned over poor performance of varsity's administration, the chief minister had also ordered an enquiry.
Sources informed Early Times that University Grant Commission (UGC) had been funding JU for creation and up-gradation of off sites campuses under Prime Minister's reconstruction plan. "The funds were to be utilized by March 2013, but inefficient JU administration could not spend the money", sources said, adding that the funding agency granted two extensions to JU to utilize the funds.
"First extension was given up-to March 2014, but the funds remained un-utilized at that point of time.

SRINAGAR, Dec 26: J&K, which was once considered safe for women, has witnessed an upsurge in sexual harassment incidents with seven cases of such offences getting registered on an average every day in the state.
According to a report National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), a copy of which lies with Early Times, J&K contributes 1.5 per cent to the total rape crime to the country.
The report reveals that 2009 cases of sexual harassment were registered in J&K under IPC during 2014. 332 rape cases, 20 cases of attempt to rape and 1,421 cases of assault on women with intent to outrage their modesty were registered during 2014 in the state.
