7/8/2010 11:55:08 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 8: Former Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University and the one whom certain elements in New Delhi want to impose on the sanctioned Central University of Jammu as its first Vice-Chancellor much to the chagrin of the people of Jammu, Amitabh Mattoo, has come out openly in support of Kashmiri "rebels" and suggested that it would be only appropriate if both India and Pakistan work out a mechanism that leads to the joint-control over the precious Indus, Jhelum and Chenab waters. What he has suggested in writing in a leading national daily The Hindustan Times (July 8, 2010) as well as in a leading Pakistani daily (May 11, 2010) vindicates the stand of the people of Ja...

Political space 'squeezing' or 'serving' parties ?
Unrest in parts of valley
7/8/2010 11:54:50 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 8: The situation in Kashmir Valley is turning grim and grave by the day, with no let up in discontent and anger of protestors for reasons which are enveloped in layers of ambiguity. While the coalition government is 'fighting it out' by all possible means and measures, any 'constructive role' of political parties in this hour of crisis is conspicuous by its absence, with almost all leaders , including those from the ruling dispensation sticking to rhetoric condemnation and criticism of handling the situation. Has the political space under present circumstances truly squeezed for parties or the parties have squeezed themselves in one corner as mere 'spectato...

7/8/2010 11:54:28 PM
AHMED ALI FAYYAZ EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, July 8: For the first time in over 20 years of conflict, Government in Jammu & Kashmir state has imposed media emergency as the capital city has become out of bounds for all Kashmiri mediapersons and American-type embedded journalism has been introduced for the journalists pouring in from New Delhi. With the National Conference-Congress ruling coalition falling in the panic mode and the Army being in the 'stand-by mode', Government has, for the first time in over two decades of armed strife, invoked an undeclared media emergency by barring Kashmiri mediapersons from reporting the current situation. Like the Americans did in war time in Iraq ...

"If no relaxation is given, then the people must rush to Hazratbal shrine on Saturday night", a spokesman of the conglomerate said. Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief, Aasiya Andrabi has sup...
