Jammu, Aug 24: The moments of happiness were turned into sadness when a woman going to tie rakhi, or the holy thread, around her brother's wrist and bestow immortality was today killed in a minibus accident on the national highway at Morian Chhan in Hiranagar, about 65 km from here.
The minibus driver was also killed in the incident while at least 12 others were wounded, five of them critically. The incident occured at about 11.30 am when the minibus was on its way from Dayalachak to Samba.

JAMMU, Aug 24: Citing continuing turbulence in Kashmir valley as the only reason, Japan has declined to give go ahead to the Rs.600 crore Natural Resource Management Project (NRMP) proposed by Jammu and Kashmir government in the year 2007.
Sources said that the refusal to go ahead with the project was conveyed to the representatives of the Jammu and Kashmir government by the Japanese delegation during a meeting at New Delhi on August 20, 2010. JAMMU, Aug 24: Over nine kilograms of poppy straw was seized by excise department officials at Lakhanpur toll post Monday. It was recovered from an apple-loaded truck (HR46C/3136) during routine checking of the truck at the toll post, official sources said.
The apples, loaded by Fresh Fruit Agency, Sopore, were to be unloaded at shop No 17-A at Kanpur Mandi. The shop is owned by M/s Sri Sai Bharosa Fruit Company.

According to a statement issued here, the conglomerate has asked people to observe a complete strike on August 25 (Wednesday).
