JAMMU, Sept 14: A disturbing and startling report emanated from New Delhi on Sunday. It said that the Jammu & Kashmir Government has spent close to Rs 560 crore for the "maintenance" of Kashmiri separatist leaders in the past five years. The report was based on the information given by "officials" in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). This huge amount has been spent on their travel and accommodation in Kashmir, their elaborate security cover as well as travel out of the valley and stay in five-star hotels in New Delhi whenever they visit the national capital for talks with Government officers and foreign dignitaries. Sources within the J&K Government, who are aware of this, according the report, also said that close to 1,500 police officers have been deployed at the residences of these separatist leaders to act as their personal security officers (PSOs) and security officers. JAMMU, Sept 14: The PDP-BJP alliance will oppose any bill by the National Conference to seek changes in the Ranbir Penal Code that bans sale of beef in the State.
The coalition partners will rather give a reply to the court in the next hearing scheduled after four weeks. "The NC's likely bill about bring changes in the RPC is purely on communal lines. The party knows that if a bill is accepted it will have strong reactions in the country and will make things uncomfortable for the alliance. JAMMU, Sept 14: Main opposition party National Conference has decided to move a Bill in the coming session of the Assembly to bring changes in the existing laws which bans slaughtering of bovine animals including cows. The National Conference has said that it will introduce a bill in the State Assembly for changes in a 1932 law which bans the slaughter of cattle and the sale and purchase of beef.
The law had rarely been followed in the State but last week, the High Court ordered the police to strictly enforce the ban, which led to protests.

JAMMU, Sept 14: Two years ago, some officials of the Board of School Education (BOSE) fudged the date of birth (DoB) certificate of an Executive Engineer. The law enforcement agencies have, however, failed to act against the accused.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, presently posted as Executive Engineer, Local Bodies Jammu, was terminated from service for tampering with his DoB in the service book.
