JAMMU, Apr 9: Governor NN Vohra has approved names of all the eight candidates forwarded by PDP-BJP coalition government for appointment as MLCs on reserved seats.
Secretary of J&K Law Department, Mohammad Ashraf Mir told Early Times that Vohra has returned the file after approving the names of all the candidates.
The new MLCs are: Ashok Khajuria, Ajatshatru Singh, Romesh Arora and Surinder Ambardar from BJP; Khursheed Alam, Zafar Iqbal Manhas, Saifuddin Bhat and Vikramaditya from PDP.
If sources are to be believed, most of the newly nominated MLCs have been allegedly appointed in violation of Section 50(6) of Jammu and Kashmir Constitution.

JAMMU, Apr 9: Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Thursday made it clear that there is no proposal for separate homeland for Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley.
Responding to the hue and cry raised in the Legislative Assembly by opposition Congress and the National Conference (NC) legislators over the government's alleged proposal to set up composite townships for migrant Pandits in the Valley, Mufti said, "We have no proposal to set up separate satellite townships for migrant Pandits."

In a statement, UKF Chairman Bharat Raina said that separatist leaders like Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mohammad Yasin Malik have no right whatsoever to talk on behalf of Kashmiri Pandits with respect to their return to Kashmir valley. JAMMU, Apr 9: Jammu province has witnessed more custodial deaths than Kashmir division, according to the annual report of State Human Rights Commission (SHRC).
Only two custodial deaths have been reported from the Valley (in Kulgam district) between April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014, while the Jammu region registered seven custodial deaths in the same period-six from Jammu district and one from Samba, says the SHRC report that was placed before the House on Thursday.
