SRINAGAR, Aug 13: It was more than on one occasion that New Delhi attempted to neutralize Paklistan's plebiscite argument on the international diplomacy front with the participation of the Kashmiris in Assembly elections of 2008. Diminishing militancy was simultaneously celebrated as an achievement. Having meticulously bargained power with National Conference (NC), Congress refused to come out of its complacency. Rather than taking political initiatives from the commanding position it enjoyed first time in the last several years, Congress-led UPA government made hardly any attempt to perceive the back swing in Omar Abdullah's popularity in the Valley.
Omar alone was never to blame for the reverse. For months, he was beguiled into the uncouth romanticism by the Centre. SRINAGAR, Aug 13: Brief lull in the two-month-long spate of bloodshed broke today with the pro-Azadi demonstrations and clashes of unruly groups with Police and CRPF at several places in Kashmir valley. At least four people got killed and 60 others injured in today's clashes that happened in the beginning of the holy month of Ramazan and ahead of the Indian Indepedence Day. Today's spate of violence yet again led to speculations of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's resignation even as the government postponed a scheduled meeting of the United Headquarters and Dr Farooq Abdullah is reaching here on an unscheduled visit in the morning on Saturday.

Jammu, Aug 13: With the consistent efforts of Army and GREF the Leh -Srinagar road which was disconnected due to washing away of the bridge has been thrown open for vehicular movement today .
An army spokesman giving information said that 100 meter Nurla Bridge was rebuild within a record time of 48 hours by the joint efforts of engineers of GREF and army. The vehicles which were stranded on the National Highway for the last seven days have been allowed to proceed in the evening today, he informed.

JAMMU, Aug 13: Suspected to have been adulterated with urea and fat, 1,500 kilograms of khoya was today seized by drug and food control organisation from the railway station here.
Astonishingly, no one turned up at the railway station to claim the consignment.Packed in bags, the khoya reached here today at about 5.20 am by the Rajdhani Express, according to official sources.
Acting on a tip-off, sleuths of the food wing of drug and food control organisation laid nakas at all the exit points of the railway station to lay hands on the accused.

Farmers allege that they are at mercy of the Rice Mill owners who bargain with them at their choicest rates. Official sources of Agriculture Department said that total area under rice production in Jammu region was 111.66 thousand hectares in 2006-07 while production was 273.14 metric tons. They added that area increased to 123.32 thousands hectares in 2007-08 while production touched 322.36 metric tons.
