Azad wrongly interprets PM's dialogue offer
6/9/2010 11:42:08 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 9: Wrongly interpreting Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh's statement that his government was ready to talk to anybody who shuns the path of violence, former Chief Minister and Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad today said the offer of talks was meant for militants and not for the Hurriyat leaders. "The Hurriyat leaders have walked out of the dialogue process. New Delhi has never declined to talk. We invited them to round table deliberations but they refused", Azad told reporters after reviewing the progress of work of Super Specialty Hospital in the summer capital. Azad clarified that the PM's condition to shun violence before talks was for militants. "If Hurriyat talks about Human Rights violations, they should come forward and discuss it on negotiating table. Instead of issuing statements in media they should directly approach us. They may have some things against us; we have some things against them. These things can be discussed on table," Azad said. Giving a brief history of Mizoram issue, Azad said, "Twenty-five years ago when Rajiv G...

6/9/2010 11:40:45 PM
ASHWANI EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 9: Jammu continues to be neglected by the powers that be at New Delhi or in the state and this has now become quite evident from the two days visit of Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh to Kashmir Valley on June 7 and 8. Though high expectations were attached by the Jammuites with the PM's special visit to the state and they were expecting that Dr Manmohan Singh will announce some sops for the people of this region too but Prime Minister kept all guessing as he did not prefer to make any mention of the people living this side of Peerpanchal who have much more problems than that of Kashmir Valley and have suffered a constant neglect for last 62 year...

Staining the nation's colour Men in Blue; Killer Too
6/9/2010 11:40:30 PM
ET SPECIAL EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 9: The color of India has started turning turbid. To start with, the strong forte of men-in-blue, of late having shown its impregnability withering into the hands of underdogs Zimbabweans in a cricket itinerary is first example of Indian tint turning murkier. Immediately to follow is the Indian Blue line buses in Capital wreaking havoc among the people there with every other day the killer bus devouring a human life or two, thus staining Blue with black. Now on local panorama in Jammu, a new and hazardous spectacle enacted by Cops in Blue is a common phenomenon. Two "murders" of young aspiring students of Gandhi Nagar Women College the other ...

ARTEEV SHARMA EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 9: Years have gone but the voice of about 1300 home guards protesting outside the office of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu is still unheard in the corridors of bureaucratic set up. Undeterred by apathetic attitude of authorities concerned, besides several odds of life, 1325 days have been passed since they began their struggle on November 9, 2006 to get justice in the form of either confirmation of their jobs or enhancement of their monthly wages at par with their counter parts in Punjab and other neighbouring states. What really heartrending and upsetting for a common man was to note that though both the Union as well as State Governments h...

‘Healing touch for Kashmiris, killing touch for Jammuites’
6/9/2010 11:37:59 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 9: It is no new story. Like his previous visits, the recent visit of the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to the state has been a morale boosting for Kashmiri leaders as he has been generous enough for releasing number of economic packages for Kashmiris, particularly for the youth of Kashmir, who, he said were disillusioned on account of some reasons. On the contrary , this visit has been totally disappointing for the Jammuites. As expected, the Prime Minister has talked about his government's policy and commitment to respect human rights of people at all costs.
