Azad wrongly interprets PM's dialogue offer | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 9: Wrongly interpreting Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh's statement that his government was ready to talk to anybody who shuns the path of violence, former Chief Minister and Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad today said the offer of talks was meant for militants and not for the Hurriyat leaders.
"The Hurriyat leaders have walked out of the dialogue process. New Delhi has never declined to talk. We invited them to round table deliberations but they refused", Azad told reporters after reviewing the progress of work of Super Specialty Hospital in the summer capital.
Azad clarified that the PM's condition to shun violence before talks was for militants. "If Hurriyat talks about Human Rights violations, they should come forward and discuss it on negotiating table. Instead of issuing statements in media they should directly approach us. They may have some things against us; we have some things against them. These things can be discussed on table," Azad said.

Two BSF men were injured when Gujjars attacked them near the International Border (IB) at Kanachak near here last evening. Police sources said a group of Gujjars attacked BSF jawans with lathies and stones after they objected the construction of makeshift huts by them near the border outpost Alpha Machial in Kanachak sub-sector.
The injured jawans -- Danish Kumar Pandey of Jharkhand and Vijay Kumar Tiwari of Bihar -- were admitted to the GMC Hospital here.
Both were at present posted with 'G' Company of 122 BSF Bn. Police had registered a case under sections 353 and 332 of RPC against the accused.

JAMMU, June 9: The 2nd additional session Judge, Jammu, has issued bailable warrants against an IPS officer and a lady DSP as they failed to present themselves before the court in a case.
The officers included Bhim Sen Tuti, who was SDPO (east) in 2002 and Mamta Sharma, who was SDPO (west) in 2002. Both were witness in the case.
In the case of Tuti, the judge directed IGP, Kashmir, to arrest and produce him in the court on July 6, 2010. He can also be enlarged on bail after furnishing a bail bond and a personal bond of Rs 1,000, the judge said.

JAMMU, June 9: The world's tallest railway bridge, even taller than Eiffel Tower in Paris, is to come up on the might river Chenab in Reasi district, about 35 km ahead of the holy Katra town.
The bridge is a crucial link in the 125 km Katra-Banihal rail link. Work has resumed on the construction of the world's tallest railway bridge over Chenab after its alignment was found safe by a team of IIT-Delhi, according to official sources.

NEW DELHI, June 9: The union home ministry has asked people to retain slips given by enumerators as acknowledgment of submission of their census form to the officials as it would be needed for data collection for a nation-wide population register, a statement said Wednesday.
