SRINAGAR, Oct 28: Despite the recommendation of Vigilance Organization to take 'punitive' action against Principal Government Dental College (GDC) Srinagar, Dr. Riyaz Farooq, the General Administration Department (GAD) is yet to act on the same with allegations being leveled at the highest level in this regard.
Sources told Early Times that few days back the Vigilance Organization wrote a letter to GAD and asked the department to take 'punitive' action against Dr. Riyaz since a First Information Report (FIR) stands registered against him in the multi-crore purchase scandal that surfaced at GDC Srinagar.
"The Vigilance Organization mentioned in the letter that the Principal GDC, Srinagar is harassing the witnesses in the case that stands registered against him. Through the letter the Vigilance Organization recommended to GAD that Dr. Riyaz should be removed from his present position without any further delay," said sources. SRINAGAR, Oct 28: Several Ministers stayed away on Wednesday from the Civil Secretariat on the last day of 'Darbar Move' in Srinagar, adding to the woes of people.
Long queues were witnessed outside the Secretariat gate. Security men had to thrash many people who tried to queue-jump.
Several people who had come from far off places burst into tears after their effort of leaving home at dawn and reaching Srinagar yielded no results.

JAMMU, Oct 28: The Health and Medical Education Department has issued a bizarre order which would deprive doctors of mandatory training recommended by the Medical Council of India.
The concluding paragraph of the order issued by the Commissioner Secretary directs principal of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) to repatriate all those doctors who have been on deputation for last more than six months.
Several doctors who chose to speak to Early Times on the condition of anonymity termed the order "arbitrary and illogical."

JAMMU, Oct 28: Probation Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) are virtually running the show in the Police Department across the State especially in Jammu district.
The influence of these PSIs can be gauged from the fact that most of them are delaying their probation test as they don't want to leave in-charge police post. Ironically, the confirmed sub-inspectors are moving from pillar to post to get themselves adjusted as in-charge police post.
