TOP STORY OF THE DAY
'We have our own view on Kashmir issue'
PDP needs to rein in Akhtar
8/11/2015 11:55:14 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 11: Spokesman of the PDP-BJP coalition government and Education Minister Naeem Akhtar the other day did well to slam Pakistan for its refusal to invite Speaker of the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly to participate in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference starting on September 30 at Islamabad. "Pakistan's decision is an unfortunate one and it is unacceptable for us," he said. The upshot of his whole argument was that "we are the only elected representatives of the people and it is our right to participate in such conferences". However, he crossed the red-line when he said that Pakistan had its own stand on the Kashmir issue, India had its own and Jammu & Kashmir Government had its own. "We are here as we bagged 80 per cent votes from people; nobody can doubt that. There is an Indian point of view, Pakistan's point of view and our (Jammu & Kashmir Government's) point of view on Kashmir issue," he said on the sidelines of a seminar in Srinagar. What he said was the state government's view and what he said should leave none in any doubt that the Jammu & Ka...
